Where's the Cheerios?

Last Sunday I packed Tanner's diaper bag for church... diapers, toys, blanket, juice and our newest addition to the list- cheerios. While at church, Tanner was getting fussy, so I decided to get out the cheerios. Diaper bags can seem like a bottomless pit. Whenever you are looking for something, it always seems to be the last thing you find in the bag. However, the cheerios were missing after my search in the bag. I remember holding a bag of cheerios that morning, and also scanned the room for anything I might have forgot right before we left. So I was out of ideas of where they were.
Well, Mike found them later that day.... in the freezer. I always bring a frozen teether to keep Tanner's juice cold. I keep a couple of them in a baggie in the freezer. I guess I picked up an old teether and stuck it in the cheerios bag and put them in the freezer. Maybe Tanner will like frozen cheerios.... haha. Hopefully someday he will laugh along with Mike and I at all the crazy things I do.

Crawling and Climbing!

Here's Tanner now 7 months old. He has now mastered the army crawl and is getting pretty good with normal crawling.
He is also climbing on anything he can grab... legs, couches, toys, exercise bikes, and unfortunately his crib. So now when he's in his crib, he climbs up until he's standing and chews on the wood.
So lately I am really trying to get him on a sleeping schedule. It seems to be making things worse. I've tried this before and it just makes me more frustrated with my unabilities to get him to be a good sleeper and Tanner also gets more cranky. We've made a little progress since now he's sometimes taking naps in his crib instead of never. Usually I have to hold him for his naps or he won't take them at all. So I guess it's a start. Hopefully he continues to get better.

I read a really good quote the other day that actually was perfect timing for me since I was having an overwhelming day:
"When you get to the end of your rope, tie a knot and hang on." – Franklin D. Roosevelt

.... so I guess I'm hanging on now :o)

Bless Those Big Thys!

Tanner's Owies....

Tanner's still smiling even after shots...

Tanner had his 6 month checkup today (wow.... 6 months already!) I always dread the checkups because of the shots. However, he seems to do better every time. I attribute this to his cute chubby thys (which seem to get bigger by the hour... lol) and his short attention span. He was over it by the time the nurse handed him over to me. I think he was mostly mad because he couldn't move and he was on his back. He now loves tummy time and refuses to be on his back.

So he now weighs 17 lbs 4 oz (He was 14.4 at 4 months). He's in the 50 percentile, so that was good. I think they got his height wrong because he just wouldn't sit still. He measured at 26 inches.

Tanner is definately on the move now. He has learned to army crawl and wants to go everywhere! So he either wants to be standing or crawling. He's almost impossible to get a diaper on now. The moment I put him on the changing table, he arches his back and tries to get to his tummy. Once he's there, he stays put. Maybe I should invent backwards diapers...

Watch out if you ever hold Tanner now. We saw 2 teeth coming in on the bottom. Tanner already loves to chew on fingers and arms. I was hoping he would get teeth a lot later... at least he wasn't early.

Hair today... gone tomorrow

So I cut my hair! Now Tanner can't get tangled in my hair anymore. I love it!

I'm Pooped

Tanner tried rice cereal for the first time in late July. He really liked it. After a few days he got bored though so we gave him a break. His tummy has been pretty sensitive to the foods I eat. So far I've cut out all dairy, onions, tomatoes, and some wheat. I probably should cut out chocolate and sugar... but that's too hard!

We actually ended up taking Tanner to the hospital a few weeks ago because he was throwing up a lot and screaming in pain. Mike was feeding him a bottle and then Tanner threw up a bunch of times. He looked really pale and his lips turned blue when he was crying. Scary. The doctor took an xray and it ended up that he just had a lot of gas and poop. I think he can't handle any type of formula.

The funny thing is that Tanner really does live in the moment. He was still happy when he wasn't screaming. I gave him a shower to wash off the throwup and I had a baby sponge that I washed his neck with. He was half asleep because he was exhausted, but he started laughing when I would brush the sponge under his chin. It was so cute.

Crazy August

Lots of stuff going on in August...

We finally sold our condo. Wahooo! It was so weird walking through it for the last time. It was kind of sad since it was our first home. It's been great living with my inlaws though. They are very helpful with Tanner so I don't go too crazy. Plus we live closer to more family which I am really happy for.

Tanner still has major sleep issues which according to a book Mike and I started reading, has caused me to have "baby brain." Which I guess means I don't think so smart....lol. Tanner will typically wake up about every 30 minutes to 2 hours. However, last week he slept about 7.5 hrs straight for the first time! Of course I kept waking up often assuming that he's going to wake up any minute. I was also so excited how much he was sleeping that it was hard to go back to sleep. In my mind I was thinking, wow he's been sleeping for 4 hrs.... 5 hrs... 6 hrs!! We think he's got tummy issues that keep waking him up. Hopefully he grows out of it soon.

Tanner is now rolling over from his back to his tummy quite well. This has added to the bedtime frustration since he will smother his face right into the bed and won't turn it to the side. He just does little pushups with his arms when he's run out of breath. So I've been trying to put him on his side for a comprimise and seems to work most of the time.

Mike and I celebrated our 5th anniversary. Five years goes by fast! Looking back it's interesting to see what's happened and how different our lives turned out to become from what we first imagined. Life really is unpredictable. You think you've got it all figured out, but then things change.

It's Time...

So I guess I've officially joined the Blog world. I am planning on posting updates once a month or so. I can already see how this can get out of control. I'm finding so many fun pictures of Tanner I want to post! I should have started this when I was pregnant... oh well.
